Arjuna Vishada Yoga · The Yoga of Arjuna's Despair

Bhagavad Gita 1.2

Sanskrit

दृष्ट्वा तु पाण्डवानीकं व्यूढं दुर्योधनस्तदा । आचार्यमुपसङ्गम्य राजा वचनमब्रवीत् ॥1.2॥

Transliteration

dṛṣṭvā tu pāṇḍavānīkaṃ vyūḍhaṃ duryodhanastadā | ācāryamupasaṅgamya rājā vacanamabravīt ‖1.2‖

Meaning

Sanjaya said: Seeing the army of the Pandavas drawn up in formation, King Duryodhana approached his teacher Drona and spoke these words.

Key learning

Duryodhana has the bigger army, yet the moment he sees the enemy he rushes to his teacher. That's a sign of nerves: when fear rises, we run to someone in charge, not always for advice, but to hand off the worry we can't sit with.

How to apply this today

Before firing off an urgent message to your boss or parent, pause and ask: "Am I asking for real information, or just trying to make someone else carry my fear?" Bring genuine questions to people you trust, but learn to steady your own panic first.
