The unwavering resolve by which one controls the functions of mind, breath, and senses through yoga, that resolve, O Partha, is sattvic. The resolve by which one holds to duty, desire, and wealth, craving the fruits, that resolve is rajasic. The resolve by which a dull person does not abandon sleep, fear, grief, despondency, and conceit, that is tamasic.
