Bhagavad Gita 1.24-25

Sanskrit

एवमुक्तो हृषीकेशो गुडाकेशेन भारत । सेनयोरुभयोर्मध्ये स्थापयित्वा रथोत्तमम् ॥1.24॥भीष्मद्रोणप्रमुखतः सर्वेषां च महीक्षिताम् । उवाच पार्थ पश्यैतान्समवेतान्कुरूनिति ॥1.25॥

Transliteration

evamukto hṛṣīkeśo guḍākeśena bhārata | senayorubhayormadhye sthāpayitvā rathottamam ‖1.24‖ bhīṣmadroṇapramukhataḥ sarveṣāṃ ca mahīkṣitām | uvāca pārtha paśyaitānsamavetānkurūniti ‖1.25‖

Meaning

“Sanjaya said: Thus addressed by Arjuna, Krishna drew up that finest of chariots between the two armies, before Bhishma, Drona, and all the rulers of the earth, and said: O Arjuna, behold these Kurus assembled here.”

Key learning

Krishna does exactly what Arjuna asked: he parks the chariot right in front of the people Arjuna loves most, and simply says, "Look at them." A good teacher doesn't hide the hard truth from you. Sometimes growth means being made to face the thing you'd rather avoid.

How to apply this today

A real guide helps you see the truth instead of just making you feel better. A mentor who shows you the honest numbers on your failing project is helping you. A friend who points out what a bad habit is doing to you is a true friend. And when you're the one guiding someone, the kindest thing can be to help them see reality, then stay beside them while they do.
