Bhagavad Gita 1.13
Sanskrit
ततः शङ्खाश्च भेर्यश्च पणवानकगोमुखाः । सहसैवाभ्यहन्यन्त स शब्दस्तुमुलोऽभवत् ॥1.13॥
Transliteration
tataḥ śaṅkhāśca bheryaśca paṇavānakagomukhāḥ | sahasaivābhyahanyanta sa śabdastumulo'bhavat ‖1.13‖
Meaning
“Then suddenly conches, kettledrums, tabors, trumpets, and horns blared forth all at once, and the sound was tumultuous.”
Key learning
The Kaurava side answers with a wall of noise. One signal sets off a cascade until the whole field is roaring. Crowds amplify whatever gets sounded first, for better or worse.
How to apply this today
Remember you're always inside an emotional crowd that amplifies. One panicked message in a family chat can spiral everyone in minutes; one calm voice can settle it. In a meeting, the first reaction sets the tone. When you can be that first voice, sound the note you actually want echoed.
