Bhagavad Gita 3.27
Sanskrit
प्रकृतेः क्रियमाणानि गुणैः कर्माणि सर्वशः । अहङ्कारविमूढात्मा कर्ताहमिति मन्यते ॥3.27॥
Transliteration
prakṛteḥ kriyamāṇāni guṇaiḥ karmāṇi sarvaśaḥ | ahaṅkāravimūḍhātmā kartāhamiti manyate ‖3.27‖
Meaning
“All actions are performed by the gunas of nature; one whose mind is deluded by egoism thinks ‘I am the doer.’”
Key learning
A lot of what you call "my doing" actually comes from your nature, upbringing, energy, and circumstances working together. The ego just slaps an "I did it" label on the result at the end. This isn't an excuse to be lazy; it's noticing how much runs through forces you didn't create or control.
How to apply this today
Loosen the "I did it all myself" grip both ways. After a win, honestly count the help you got, like your genes, teachers, timing, and others' work, and pride softens into gratitude. After a failure, see how much was outside your control, and harsh self-blame turns into learning. Do this: keep owning your choices, but drop the idea that you alone made everything happen.
