Meaning
“This is the state of Brahman, O Partha. Having attained it, one is no longer deluded. Established therein even at the hour of death, one attains the nirvana of Brahman.”
Key learning
Everything in this chapter points to one steady inner state where confusion can no longer take hold. Once you truly live there, you are no longer fooled by life's ups and downs. And resting in that state even at the moment of death, you pass into lasting peace rather than fear. The chapter that began with panic in the face of death ends by turning even death into a doorway.
How to apply this today
Aim to live in this calm state permanently, not just visit it now and then. After any retreat or insight, ask the practical question: what daily habit will make this my normal home base? Treat every evenly-handled setback and every cleanly-released outcome as quiet preparation for facing life's hardest moments steadily. Reread this chapter once a month and build the steadiness one ordinary moment at a time.
