Bhagavad Gita 2.49
Sanskrit
दूरेण ह्यवरं कर्म बुद्धियोगाद्धनञ्जय । बुद्धौ शरणमन्विच्छ कृपणाः फलहेतवः ॥2.49॥
Transliteration
dūreṇa hyavaraṃ karma buddhiyogāddhanañjaya | buddhau śaraṇamanviccha kṛpaṇāḥ phalahetavaḥ ‖2.49‖
Meaning
“Far inferior indeed is mere action to the yoga of intelligence, O Dhananjaya. Seek refuge in intelligence; pitiable are those driven by results.”
Key learning
Action driven by clear thinking is far better than busy action with no wisdom behind it. People run by results alone are in a sad spot, because they've handed their peace of mind to things they can't control. They end up begging outcomes for permission to feel okay. Real strength comes from acting out of calm understanding, not from anxiety or appetite.
How to apply this today
Watch for emotional whiplash tied to outside scores. If your whole mood rides on sales numbers, your portfolio, or likes, you've tied your peace to things you can't command. Instead, judge yourself by what you control: calls made, pages written, hours of real focus. Before reacting to any result, pause and ask what a clear, calm mind says the right next step is.
