Bhagavad Gita 2.13

Sanskrit

देहिनोऽस्मिन्यथा देहे कौमारं यौवनं जरा । तथा देहान्तरप्राप्तिर्धीरस्तत्र न मुह्यति ॥2.13॥

Transliteration

dehino'sminyathā dehe kaumāraṃ yauvanaṃ jarā | tathā dehāntaraprāptirdhīrastatra na muhyati ‖2.13‖

Meaning

Just as the embodied Self passes in this body through childhood, youth, and old age, so too does it pass into another body. The wise are not deluded by this.

Key learning

Just as you moved from child to teenager to adult and still feel like "you," the Self carries on beyond the body too. A change of form isn't the end of who you are.

How to apply this today

You've already survived being a completely different-looking person, the baby in your old photos. That thread of continuity is a clue: you're not just your changing body. Let that ease your fear of change and aging.
