Meaning
“Of these, sattva, being stainless, luminous, and free from disease, binds by attachment to happiness and attachment to knowledge, O sinless one. Know rajas to be of the nature of passion, the source of thirst and attachment; it binds the embodied one by attachment to action, O son of Kunti. But know tamas to be born of ignorance, deluding all embodied beings; it binds by negligence, laziness, and sleep, O Bharata.”
