Bhagavad Gita 3.19
Sanskrit
तस्मादसक्तः सततं कार्यं कर्म समाचर । असक्तो ह्याचरन्कर्म परमाप्नोति पूरुषः ॥3.19॥
Transliteration
tasmādasaktaḥ satataṃ kāryaṃ karma samācara | asakto hyācarankarma paramāpnoti pūruṣaḥ ‖3.19‖
Meaning
“Therefore, always perform without attachment the work that must be done; for performing action without attachment, one attains the Supreme.”
Key learning
The main message: keep doing the work you should do, steadily, without clinging to the results. You don't need to quit your job or change your life. You just need to loosen your grip. Doing ordinary work this way leads to the highest good.
How to apply this today
Pick the boring task you dislike most, like commuting, chores, or paperwork, and try it for a month with full effort but no inner stress about it. You'll likely notice the resentment was heavier than the task itself. Days start to feel lighter. Do this: do your duty fully, but stop gripping the outcome.
