Bhagavad Gita 3.13

Sanskrit

यज्ञशिष्टाशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषैः । भुञ्जते ते त्वघं पापा ये पचन्त्यात्मकारणात् ॥3.13॥

Transliteration

yajñaśiṣṭāśinaḥ santo mucyante sarvakilbiṣaiḥ | bhuñjate te tvaghaṃ pāpā ye pacantyātmakāraṇāt ‖3.13‖

Meaning

The good who eat the remnants of sacrifice are freed from all sins; but the wicked who cook only for themselves eat sin.

Key learning

People who share first, serving others before themselves, end up clean and at peace. People who grab everything for themselves first end up carrying a quiet kind of guilt. The simple order of "others first, me after" changes how good things feel.

How to apply this today

Build "give first" into small daily habits. Serve others at the table before filling your own plate. On payday, give and save a bit before you spend. At work, point to your teammates' contributions before claiming your own. Do this: let one small act of sharing come before you take your share.
