Bhagavad Gita 2.40
Sanskrit
नेहाभिक्रमनाशोऽस्ति प्रत्यवायो न विद्यते । स्वल्पमप्यस्य धर्मस्य त्रायते महतो भयात् ॥2.40॥
Transliteration
nehābhikramanāśo'sti pratyavāyo na vidyate | svalpamapyasya dharmasya trāyate mahato bhayāt ‖2.40‖
Meaning
“In this path no effort is ever lost and no obstacle prevails; even a little of this dharma protects from great fear.”
Key learning
On this inner path, no effort is ever wasted and there is no minimum amount required; even a little of it protects you from great fear. Unlike money or markets, which can wipe out years of gains, inner growth builds up safely; every moment of calm or unselfish action is banked in your character where it cannot be taken away. This removes two common excuses: 'I have fallen too far behind' and 'I can only do a little.'
How to apply this today
Let this break your all-or-nothing thinking about self-improvement. The meditation you dropped two years ago is not lost; pick it up today and the old ground is still yours. If you can only manage five minutes of stillness, one page, or one act of patience today, that small amount fully counts, so do it. After a moral slip, skip the 'I have ruined everything' story; nothing you did well before is erased, and simply returning is itself practice. Today, set a tiny daily minimum you can never fail, and just keep depositing.
