Sanskrit
प्रकृतिं पुरुषं चैव विद्ध्यनादी उभावपि । विकारांश्च गुणांश्चैव विद्धि प्रकृतिसम्भवान् ॥13.20॥कार्यकारणकर्तृत्वे हेतुः प्रकृतिरुच्यते । पुरुषः सुखदुःखानां भोक्तृत्वे हेतुरुच्यते ॥13.21॥
Transliteration
prakṛtiṃ puruṣaṃ caiva viddhyanādī ubhāvapi | vikārāṃśca guṇāṃścaiva viddhi prakṛtisambhavān ‖13.20‖ kāryakāraṇakartṛtve hetuḥ prakṛtirucyate | puruṣaḥ sukhaduḥkhānāṃ bhoktṛtve heturucyate ‖13.21‖
Meaning
“Know that nature and spirit are both beginningless; know that modifications and gunas are born of nature. Nature is said to be the cause in the production of effects and instruments; the spirit is said to be the cause in the experiencing of pleasures and pains.”
